What Being an Artist Taught Me in 2018

2018 proved to challenge me in many ways. Between learning about myself and my artwork, there are a few lessons I learned that will stick with me in the years to come.
What Being an Artist Taught me in 2018
Gaining clarity is the most important thing you can do for yourself in the beginning of the year. Take a moment to reflect on your past year, write out your dream life, and plan your goals accordingly.
Some things take financial risks. Evaluate them with your best judgement and don’t let fear stand in the way of saying yes.
Step into a daily routine. Find the best activities that resonate with you practice them daily. This will spark joy and bring a bit of intentional into your life.
Take a moment to record your celebrations at the end of each week.
Put yourself out there, and put yourself out there again. Some goals require stepping outside of your comfort zone. Do it with grace and recognize all the positive moments you can celebrate.
Have the self awareness to rest. Avoid comparison and let your body take seasons of rest when they are right for you.
Celebrate those around you and share your gratitude as often as possible.
Push yourself into what excites you. Don’t let new ideas scare you away.
Learn how to share what excites you and others will flock to your joy.
There’s a magical world that exists within pigments and what the earth naturally creates.
Be opened to the unknown, even if that means letting things come back to the surface or living out things in full circle.
Find grace in yourself and those you love.
After gaining clarity and re-aligning with my dream life, I am excited for the new year. I cannot wait to focus on discipline, patience, and grace. What have you learned this year? What is your big focus for 2019?
